Alpinestars Tech-Air 10 Airbag System

Tech-Air® 10 is the latest innovative autonomous airbag in Alpinestars' Tech-Air® family, which includes the Tech-Air® Race, Tech-Air® Street and Tech-Air® 5 electronic airbag systems. Derived from Alpinestars' airbag technology adopted by MotoGP riders, Tech-Air® 10 is a sleek, self-contained, wearable airbag system that provides unrivaled body protection for racers, trackday riders and street riders by covering the rider's shoulders, chest, entire back and hips.

Tech-Air® 10 can be worn under all Alpinestars Tech-Air® Ready or Tech-Air® compatible leather suits or third party leather suits with 4 cm of space around the rider's chest circumference and 2 cm of space around the circumference of the rider's hips. The additional space for the chest and hips is necessary to accommodate the inflation of the airbag in the event of a collision.

Features:

• A wireless LED remote display shows the operating status of the Airbag.
• The integrated, certified lithium-ion battery has a battery life of 24 hours of riding time.
• Developed from years of research with the world's best MotoGP riders and Alpinestars' customers, data from millions of kilometers and thousands of accidents have been analyzed to continuously improve the intelligent accident detection algorithm.
• The Tech-Air® 10 system is extremely easy to use; simply close the front zipper and fasten the harness to activate the airbag system and you're ready to ride. The internal belt automatically activates the system once it is fastened and secured.
• In race mode, the Tech-Air® 10 system is only active when driving above approximately 60 km/h (37 mph) for at least 10 seconds. Before this activation or if the rider's speed falls steadily below this speed for at least 10 seconds, the system is deactivated. This is the standard behavior of the Tech-Air® 10 airbag system in race mode, as it is normal to have fast stop-and-go driving situations where the driver does not want to turn off the airbag. In such conditions, it is safer for the driver to have the system automatically deactivate the airbag to avoid unwanted airbag deployment.
• The wireless LED remote display can be slid onto the driver's arm to easily check the status of the system. Depending on the rider's preference, the LED display can also be attached to the bike.
• The Tech-Air® 10 system takes around 4 hours to recharge a discharged battery using the USB charger supplied. A fully charged battery lasts for about 24 hours of operation. If only a limited amount of time is available, charging the battery for about 1 hour is sufficient for about 6 hours of operating time.
• The airbag itself is breathable and features air channels and a perforated back zone that provide airflow to improve rider comfort.
• The Tech-Air® 10 system quickly attaches to Alpinestars' Tech-Air® 10 system base layer via user-friendly side zippers; this allows riders to swap out the base layer between riding sessions if desired.
• The Tech-Air® 10 System base layer is hand washable.
• The total weight of the Tech-Air® 10 (system and base layer) is 2,390 g for a medium size.
• Tech-Air® 10 is designed for track and street use and can be used with both RACE and STREET riding modes, which have special AI crash detection algorithms. The RACE driving mode may only be used for driving on closed circuits and not for other types of driving.
• Bluetooth connectivity to a Tech-Air® app provides drivers with the operating status of the airbag system, battery status and MyRide ride Information.
• The Tech-Air® app also allows drivers to update the system's firmware when new crash detection algorithms are released.

Protection:

• Designed to protect a motorcyclist's shoulders, chest, entire back and hips, Tech-Air® 10 offers the most comprehensive coverage of any airbag currently available.
• The state-of-the-art Tech-Air® 10 wearable airbag system features an active electronic system with 12 sensors (3 triaxial accelerometers plus 1 triaxial gyroscope) and a crash detection algorithm that uses AI to accurately monitor when it is time to deploy the airbag in the event of a collision.
• The impact absorption when wearing the airbag reduces the impact force by up to 95% compared to a passive protector. When deployed, the Tech-Air® 10 airbag system offers the same protection as 18 back protectors.
• The Tech-Air® 10 has CE certification level 2 for chest and back.
• When an accident situation is detected, a protective airbag is triggered, offering the rider unsurpassed protection with a maximum inflation time of 40 ms.
• The Tech-Air® 10 airbag system offers even more comprehensive coverage due to the additional protection of the driver's hips and requires 2 argon gas generators to fill the entire volume of the larger airbag when deployed in a crash situation. Therefore, Tech-Air® 10 does not have the dual-charge concept like the Tech-Air® Race system.

Construction:

• There is a special area on the system's internal belt that serves as a charging station for the wireless LED remote display. A fully charged LED display lasts at least 20 Hours.
• The system is equipped with a USB charger and a magnetic Type-C USB cable that allows for quick, easy and convenient charging.
• The Tech-Air® 10 system has an airbag that is certified for up to three inflations. However, after each deployment, when the system arrives for service, the authorized Alpinestars Tech-Air® Service Center performs an inflation test on the airbag to check if the airbag has been damaged during deployment. If the inflation test is passed and confirms that the airbag was not damaged during deployment, the service will only include the replacement of the inflators. If the inflation test is not passed, this means that the airbag was damaged during deployment and the system will undergo a full service, which includes replacement of the gas generators and the airbag. On the third deployment, the system undergoes a mandatory full service, which involves replacing the gas generators and the airbag.
