Alpinestars Tech-Air 5 Airbag Vest

The state-of-the-art wearable Tech-Air® 5 vest features an active electronic system with six integrated sensors (3 gyroscopes and 3 accelerometers) and a crash algorithm that uses AI to accurately monitor when to deploy the airbag in the event of a crash. Developed from years of research with over 50% of the world's leading MotoGP riders and Alpinestars customers, riding data from millions of kilometers and thousands of crashes have been analyzed to continuously improve the intelligent crash detection algorithm. When a crash situation is detected, a protective airbag is triggered, providing the rider with unrivaled protection with a maximum inflation time of 20 to 40 ms, based on the volume of the airbag size. Impact absorption while wearing the airbag results in a reduction in impact force of up to 95% compared to passive protection. The Tech-Air® 5 airbag system offers the same protection as 18 back protectors.

The system is also extremely easy to use. Simply close the vest and close the magnetic flap. Then you can drive off. An LED display shows the operating status of the airbag and the integrated, certified lithium-ion battery has a battery life of 30 hours. The system is equipped with a magnetic micro USB charger for quick, easy and convenient charging.

Tech-Air® 5 features Bluetooth connectivity and an associated Tech-Air® app that displays the system's operating status, battery status and a detailed analysis of a ride via the rider's phone. The system's firmware can also be updated directly via the app.

Alpinestars began developing the original Tech-Air® system almost 20 years ago. When launched in 2014, the Tech-Air® system was recognized as the world's first airbag to offer full upper body protection with a completely independent electronic management system and the versatility of the vest, which can be easily inserted into a variety of Tech-Air® compatible jackets. In December 2019, Tech-Air® 5 was already recognized by CES as one of the most important innovative products on the Wearables Technology Marketplace.

Notes:

(1) The wearable Tech-Air® 5 vest can be worn under any suitable textile jacket. Please note that the jacket must be large enough to absorb the expansion of the airbag in the event of an accident. For textile jackets, this requires an additional 4 cm around the body circumference. For riders who wish to wear a sports leather jacket, Tech-Air® 5 can also be worn with Tech-Air® compatible leather jackets that have built-in leather expansion panels to compensate for the inflation of the airbag. Riders who wish to wear a leather jacket that is not Tech-Air® compatible must ensure that the leather jacket has an additional 4 cm of clearance around the circumference of the entire chest.

(2) The Tech-Air® 5 airbag system offers the same protection as that of 18 CE Level 1 back protectors, as verified by SGS, an official CE certification company, which provides independent verification of product conformity with European regulations on personal protection

(3) In addition to allowing motorcyclists to ride protected while commuting, riders can now easily switch to RACE riding mode and ride on closed circuits. With the newly released Tech-Air app, riders can easily switch between STREET and RACE riding modes. RACE Riding Mode may ONLY be used for riding on closed circuits and not for other types of riding.

There is an Update:

The "Race Riding Mode" has been introduced. This means that the Tech-Air can now be switched between "Race Riding Mode" and "Street Riding Mode". The Tech-Air 5 is delivered in STREET RIDING MODE as Standard.

Unlock Update:

The first step is to update the Tech-Air app to the latest version. Then open the app, go to Settings and Software. If the Tech-Air 5 airbag is paired with your mobile phone, you can update the software here. You will then find the new option "Ride Modes" and can switch between the 2 modes.

IMPORTANT: The "Race Riding Mode" may ONLY be used on closed race tracks and may NOT be used for other types of riding!
